How CFP Electronics handles the information you give us.
This page is a starting template. It describes how this website works, and it is not legal advice.
Rules for buying used phones and for handling personal information are different in every state, and they change. CFP Electronics should have a lawyer review this page before relying on it, and should edit anything on it that does not match how this business actually runs.
This site is operated by CFP Electronics. You can reach CFP Electronics at cfpbuyback@gmail.com or 4052023953.
We buy used phones and other devices from members of the public. This page covers the information we collect through this website and when we meet you.
When you request a quote we collect the name, email address and phone number you give us, along with the details of the device you want to sell (model, storage, carrier status and condition), and anything you write in the notes.
If you message us through the chat on this site, we keep those messages so we can answer you and so we have a record of what was agreed.
When we actually buy a device from you we collect more: your government issued photo ID, including the type, the issuing agency and the number on it, and in some places a photograph of you. We also record the device's serial number and its IMEI or MEID, and the price we paid. We are required to collect these. See "What we have to report" below.
To work out what your device is worth, to contact you about your quote, and to arrange a time and place to meet.
We also keep a record of completed purchases because the law where we trade requires us to, and because that record is what we hand to law enforcement if a device we bought turns out to have been stolen.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to advertise to you on behalf of anyone else.
We text and call the number you give us. That is how you get your quote, how we agree a time to meet, and how we tell you if the price changes after we see the device. If you would rather we did not, tell us and we will use email instead.
Some of those messages are sent automatically. You can stop them at any time by replying STOP to any text, or by telling us. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply, and we do not control those. Stopping the texts does not cancel a sale you have already agreed.
We do not give your number to anyone else to market to you.
We are a secondhand dealer. In most places that means we are required to report every purchase we make to a database that law enforcement can search, usually within one business day. Depending on where we trade that is a state run system or a service such as LeadsOnline.
That report includes your name, your ID details, and the device's serial number and IMEI. This is not something we choose to do and it is not something we can leave out. It happens on every purchase, not only when someone asks us about it.
Our records are also open to inspection by law enforcement, and we will hand over information when we are legally required to.
CFP Electronics uses ResellMaxx to run this website and to store quotes and messages. ResellMaxx processes that information on our behalf and does not use it for its own purposes.
Apart from the reporting described above, we share your details with no one else unless we are legally required to.
Quotes that do not lead to a sale are kept for up to two years so we can see the history if you come back to us.
Records of completed purchases are kept for at least three years, because we are required to hold them for that long. We cannot delete those early even if you ask us to.
Whether or not the privacy law in your state applies to a business our size, we will handle these requests for anyone who asks. You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. You can also ask us to stop using it for advertising.
To make a request, you can reach CFP Electronics at cfpbuyback@gmail.com or 4052023953. We may need to check who you are before we answer, and we will only use what you send us for that. Someone can make a request on your behalf if you have authorised them to. We will not treat you differently for asking. If we say no, tell us and we will look at it again.
We aim to answer within 45 days. If we need longer we will tell you why.
This site is not for children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and we do not buy devices from anyone under 18.
If you think a child has given us information, tell us and we will delete it.
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, including limiting who at CFP Electronics can see it. No system is perfectly secure and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
If information about you is exposed in a way that the law requires us to tell you about, we will tell you.
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page. The date below is when it last changed.
